AI usage and credits
DataMaker Cloud plans include a monthly AI allowance. Settings → License shows what your workspace has used this month against that allowance, so the figure you are billed on is one you can check yourself rather than one you have to ask for.
Where to find it
- Open Settings.
- Select the License tab.
- The Plan usage panel sits under your plan details.
The panel appears once the workspace has a live entitlement. An unlicensed workspace sees the licensing wall instead, because there is no allowance to report against yet.
What the panel tells you

What a credit is
One credit is EUR 1 of AI provider list cost. Every chat message, agent run and other AI-backed call is metered at what the underlying model provider charges, and the total is reported in credits.
Providers publish their list prices in US dollars, so the figure is converted to euros when it is recorded. Each recorded call keeps the rate in force at the time, which means a later rate change never restates a number you have already been shown. While a deployment is still on the provisional rate rather than a signed-off one, the panel says so beside the figure it produced.
What is not counted
Generation and test runs are unlimited and are not metered against your AI allowance. This is the most common misreading of the commercial model: generating a million rows costs no credits. Only AI-backed calls do.
Usage resets monthly
The figure covers the current calendar month in UTC and resets at the start of the next one. It does not follow your contract term.
When the allowance runs out
AI-assisted features pause. Once the month’s credits are spent, DataMaker refuses AI-backed calls until the allowance refills at the start of the next calendar month. The panel names the date they resume, and a refused call answers with the same explanation rather than a licensing error: your workspace is licensed and working, and a monthly allowance is spent.
What keeps working:
- data generation
- scenario runs
- data jobs, including loads already in flight
- every read and export, so all of your data stays available
Anything running on your own provider key is also unaffected, because your provider bills you for it directly and it never touched the allowance. If every AI provider you use is on your own key, nothing pauses at all, and the panel says as much.
Plans sold with an unlimited AI allowance never pause.
The warning before it
From 80% of the allowance the panel says the pause is approaching, names the date the allowance refills, and repeats what will keep working through it. It warns there rather than at the allowance itself so there is time to act before anything stops: contact Automators to raise the allowance, or add your own provider key.
Pooled allowances
Enterprise agreements typically sell one allowance across every workspace the licence covers. When more than one workspace is pooled the panel says how many, which explains a figure higher than the workspace in front of you could have produced on its own.
Pooling applies to the pause as well: a workspace that has spent very little of its own pauses once the shared allowance is spent, because the allowance is the subscription’s rather than the workspace’s.
